Next Stop Melbourne is a contemporary African-Australian arts and performance festival that is set to take over the streets of Melbourne's Southbank on February 1. Next Stop Melbourne is a free, all-day series of events, and everyone is invited.
The extensive line-up features both established and emerging artists from the African-Australian diaspora, ranging from contemporary music and experimental dance to theatre, spoken word, painting and poetry. It is a family-friendly event that will also include a fashion parade, hair braiding and face painting.
Next Stop Melbourne's vision is both fiercely contemporary and diasporic, and refuses to put limitations on what 'African' or 'Australian' can mean.
